Blog Feedback

WWW: Wow – what a superb start to GSCE Media! It is such a pleasure to read your blog and the range of skills you are already displaying. Your film poster analysis for the key concepts task is so impressive – not only a really interesting choice of text but also the fact you are picking out stereotypical representations in the very first week of the course! Your fruit bowl is wonderful too which demonstrates your technical and creative skills so I’m confident the coursework aspect will be a strength for you as well. Keep up the good work!

EBI: The key message is very simple – keep writing detailed, in-depth analysis exploring all the possible meanings that are being communicated to the audience. This is by no means a criticism as it’s my job to help you develop this over the two-year course. In particular, look at your denotation/connotation work and your Stranger Things analysis - we’re looking to add a little more depth and detail exploring the different possible meanings and how these are communicated to the audience.

Reflect on your first month of Media.
What do you feel is your strongest piece of work so far?
My strongest piece of media work was my 'Key Concept Analysis' as it shows an in-depth look into the film poster.

What is your weakest?
My weakest piece of media work is 'Mise-en-scene' as it needs more detail and in depth look into it.

What specific skills or knowledge do you need to develop over the rest of the course?
I need to specifically work on going and analysing all the aspects of the product.

How can you improve the depth and detail of your media analysis?
I need to analyse in detail and zoom into the specific details. And try find all possible meanings of the product.
